Advice on dealing with Candida

The following is some advice I received on dealing with Candida, an issue I covered in a previous blog. This pernicious yeast can take over  in several ways — in my case precipitated by a couple of rounds of antibiotics I suspect. It feeds on what you eat, so diet is key in controlling it:

Elimination is basically starving the Candida so they cannot thrive.  This means eliminating simple sugars, yeast and fermented foods including fruits (fresh, juiced, and dried), refined-flour products, alcohol, cheese, vinegar and pickled veggies, breads and soy sauce.   This may sound like there’s nothing left to eat!  The main focus of meals is veggies and organic proteins like fish, chicken, nuts, and seeds.  There are many Candida Protocols and it varies from person to person on how strict you need to be. Cleansing is eliminating the Candida while they are being eliminated.  This can be done with herbs in addition to colonic irrigation, and by drinking plenty of water. Replenishing  with good bacteria like Lactobacillus and Acidophilus (probiotics) is essential to ensure the intestinal tract and colon is operating at optimum performance.
