Acceptance has been coming up often in conversations with clients and friends. It is a simple idea to understand, but a much more tender and challenging one to practice. In everyday psychological terms, acceptance means being willing to acknowledge a reality or situation as it is, without fighting against it or allowing it to harden into resentment. It asks us to meet life honestly, with enough softness to keep moving forward. August is a ripe time to dig into the practice of acceptance.
As August begins, the Sun is in Leo, a sign where it is at home, and many of us are settling into the slower, sun-warmed pace of late summer.
The Lunar Nodes have also changed signs, with the North Node now in Aquarius and the South Node in Leo. This shift begins a new 18-month cycle along the Aquarius–Leo axis. With this month’s New Moon and Full Moon, we are also entering what astrologers refer to as Eclipse Season: a time when the New Moon or Full Moon aligns closely with one of the Moon’s nodes.
We received an early preview of what this next 18-month cycle may bring during the February 17, 2026, solar eclipse. Saturn and Neptune were also beginning a new 36-year cycle, another layer of significance to this threshold. Whether or not we recognized it then, a new beginning was already unfolding. Now that energy begins to activate; inviting the right people, resources, and possibilities to appear. What new storyline is on your horizon?
Historically, early astronomers and many cultures imagined the nodes as a celestial dragon. The North Node was seen as the dragon’s head, taking in new energy and pointing toward destiny, while the South Node was understood as the tail, connected with release, completion, and letting go of the past.
The Aquarius-Leo Axis are the signs that now hold the Lunar Nodes and are important because they reveal the themes we are going to be working with throughout their 18-month transit. As the nodes move through Aquarius and Leo, the attention is on the relationship between individuality and community, personal expression, and collective responsibility.
The North Node in Aquarius invites us to grow through greater objectivity, stronger collaboration, more inclusive community spaces, win-win solutions, thoughtful questioning of rigid or outdated systems, and openness to major technological advances.
Simultaneously, the South Node in Leo asks us to reflect on what we need to release. This can include willfulness, the need to have things our own way, attachment to approval and prideful reactions rooted in fear.
It is a lot to embrace and feels especially relevant to the world we are living in now. Beneath it all, this transit also invites us to reconnect with the best of Leo: heart-centered humanity, creativity, courage, and generosity of spirit.
The New Moon Solar Eclipse on August 12th looks deeply into our heart, as we dream with intention, and lay the groundwork for our journey over the next nine months lunation cycle. By mid-May 2027, we may receive important feedback about what began during this eclipse window. At that point, we may be asked to recommit, refine the vision, and put more sustained effort into bringing the idea into form.
The caution is to stay inspired without rushing ahead blindly. Dream boldly, but be sure there is enough structure, support, and a net beneath your leap.
The Full Moon Lunar Eclipse on August 28th illuminates an area of life where we’ve joined our talents, resources, and intentions with others. Themes of relationship, community, collaboration, and social connection come into sharper focus now.
Look back to late February 2025. What began then? What relationships, plans, or shared experiences were taking shape? This eclipse may reveal whether those seeds are now ready to grow into fuller commitment, or if something has reached its natural point of completion.
The light of the Full Moon is intensified by eclipse energy. What has been unclear may become easier to see. Whether this moment brings confirmation or closure, it offers insight into what is ready to continue, and what is asking to be released.
As Margaret Atwood, with her Moon and Mars in Aquarius said
“Plot is what happens when the story changes direction”
