At the Edge of a New Beginning – Gaining Momentum While Maintaining Balance

Aries Season is about sovereignty, like stepping boldly into sunlight after a long winter. It sparks the momentum of change and emotional transformation as we enter a season of renewal.

One of my closest Aries friends loves the movie The Wizard of Oz and it reminds me of how this month unfolds. We begin on familiar ground and as the month progresses, we find ourselves in a new place, somewhere none of us have ever been before. Aries energy is the spirit of adventure, ready and excited to take off. Saturn here, also known as Father Time for its association with discipline and structure, reminding us to ensure our progress rests on a solid foundation.

Meanwhile, Neptune offers subtle support—encouraging us to dream and create but also cautioning us against self-deception. There hasn’t been a lineup of these many planets in Aries since 1962 so there is a lot of fuel for the fire, yet we must be careful not to burn down or burn out, it’s not a race, it’s a marathon. Collectively we may all be struggling to find our footing, looking around, and thinking, “I don’t think we’re in Kansas anymore.” On a personal level, though, it can feel entirely different. We have the opportunity to practice holding two vastly different things in the same space at the same time.

On April 1st we jump right in with a Full Moon in Libra. We can see all the cards on the table and can take a look back to October of 2024 when this longer moon cycle began. What did we begin at that time that is now coming to fruition and is it time to let it go? The Full Moon highlights an opportune time to take action; it’s time when we are being provided with new information under the light of the moon. The Aries Sun holds court with this moon encouraging us to step forward and claim our space, not to be afraid to take up oxygen in the room as the moon in Libra helps to create the much-needed balance of “me versus we.”

Looking ahead, the Aries New Moon on April 17th is a bookend to Aries season, which began with the Spring Equinox on March 20th. This New Moon brings Aries’s energetic spirit – a time to reflect, recognize our value, and confidently step into our own strength. We can feel power-filled without needing to wield power over another. Take your emboldened sense of value and set your New Moon intentions. My favorite New Moon ritual is sitting quietly with my notebook and write my intentions down. The practice of putting your thoughts onto paper is a powerful symbol for turning words into action.

April 19th, the Sun enters Taurus, signaling a time focused on growth and renewal. Taurus season brings to mind beautiful images of blossoming trees, flower buds, and lush greenery. On the same day Mercury, Mars and Saturn are at the exact same degree in Aries. The Sun moving on will help mitigate the intensity that this grouping of planets can bring. It can signal power struggles and tough communications so just mark that day (give or take a day or two on either side) to stay as grounded as you can.

On April 25th, Uranus takes up residence in Gemini and will remain there for the next seven years. The alignment of Uranus here facilitates productive interactions with Neptune in Aries and Pluto in Aquarius over the next three to four years. These outer planets are a background hum, lending potent and steady guidance during a period of significant societal change and structural renewal. 2026 is filled with transformational astrology, and we are all here to help usher in a new era.

April asks us to focus on self-care as Aries’ driven energy can lead to burnout. Identify your needs and then take action for your future. As novelist Erica Jong (who has her Sun in Aries) said, “I have accepted fear as part of life… I have gone ahead despite the pounding in my heart that says: turn back…”

Move forward with compassion for all, yourself included.
