“That which offers no resistance, overcomes the hardest substances. That which offers no resistance can enter where there is no space.” Lao Tzu, Tao Te Ching,
There is tremendous value in non-action. Doing nothing is often much better than doing something. Sometimes a pause is the best course of action. Knowing when to move and when to sit still will get you the best results.
Ironically, when there seems to be nothing happening in your life, this is precisely when there is a lot happening. Movement of energy often goes undetected. Things are always moving. We can make them move in the physical world or we can sit tight and allow the movement of the nonphysical world to do the heavy lifting.
When faced with a difficult situation or decision, try taking an important pause. Whether it is for one minute or a week or several months, let things sit for a while. Instead of trying to solve something, straighten something out or pummel something into submission, just take a beat. On the outside you might feel like you have stepped away or are avoiding something. Turning it over to the energy that has the greater and more accurate power than you do is often the best strategy. Knowing when to make a move and when not to is a great skill that you can develop.
Meditation practice is one of the best things you can do to hone the skill of knowing when to act and when to let things sit. You start by developing your intuition. This requires you to slow down and listen to your inner soul. You will learn to trust your gut feelings and recognize patterns in your world rather than relying solely on logical reasoning.
Writing things down can help a lot in improving your ability to know when to act and when not to. You can write things down in journal form or list things down in point form. Either way, it is one of the most powerful intentions setting things you can do. It helps you to see things more clearly and gives the universe something to work with. The beauty is that by writing things down you are dealing with things but not in an actionable way. It’s moving energy without trying to control things.
As well, spending time in nature provides us with the best environment to calm things down enough to allow you to connect with your intuition and inner wisdom. Get into the higher vibrational energy in nature to give you the best chance at alchemizing your body with the natural rhythm of your life.
This approach of taking a break works extremely well when you conflict with other people. Write down what you need from the person or take a few minutes to do a meditation and then take a walk in nature. When you are done you will marvel at the serendipitous circumstances that will result. It works like magic.
The next time you feel the pressure to fix something, sort something out, or get to the bottom of something, do nothing instead. You might just find you get exactly what you need.
