Each Little Step

Home » Fitness » Each Little Step

You know that old saying: one step forward, two steps back. Sometimes it feels like much of life operates in this way. We make progress, we start to see the light, and then suddenly something unforeseen pulls us off course. I often catch myself wondering: why isn’t this happening faster? Why don’t I see results right away? For someone with a pitta nature like me, determined and fiery, this lack of instant progress can feel incredibly frustrating. Patience becomes a practice. A daily practice.

Nothing in life moves in a perfect, straight line. Our growth, whether physical, emotional, or spiritual, takes us up, down, and sideways, often in ways we can’t predict. When we’re in the middle of it, our perspective narrows. It’s like trying to see our whole body in the mirror when we’re standing an inch away from the glass. The image is blurred, distorted. To gain clarity, we need to step back, take a deep breath, and shift into a wider perspective. The witness’s eye. The bigger picture.

This is where the journey truly begins; on the micro level. One workout. One nourishing meal. One mindful pause. One honest conversation with yourself. On their own, these may seem small, almost insignificant. But with consistency, they add up in ways you may not see right away. Brick by brick, step by step, you are building a foundation.

And yes, feelings matter. I don’t want to tell you not to feel, because your feelings are not obstacles; they are signals. They point you toward what needs attention. When frustration or overwhelm lingers long after you’ve closed your laptop or finished your day, it’s often an invitation to turn inward. To pause. To listen.

That’s why presence and gratitude are powerful practices to anchor you. Start with gratitude. Remember where you started and notice how far you’ve already come, how much strength, resilience, and courage you’ve shown just by being here. Be grateful for the people who’ve supported you, for the lessons that shaped you, and for the fire within that still fuels you. Then, come into presence. This moment. Release the regrets of the past and the worries about the future. Right now, is where solutions spark, clarity arrives, and your next step becomes visible.

Each little step, taken with intention, carries weight. Trust that even when it doesn’t look like progress, you are moving. You are becoming. And as you walk forward, step after step, you are shaping the very life you’ve been dreaming of all along.
