Every couple wants to look their best on their wedding day. After all, the pictures will be around long after the big day! In an effort to lose those extra pounds and get into shape, we have embarked on a 12 week, pre-wedding fitness and nutrition journey.

With our wedding day quickly approaching (August 8th) we have no time to waste, so we have teamed up with Simply for Life and Nubody’s Fitness Centres and have also enlisted the help of a personal trainer. Two weeks into our new routine, we are adjusting to the early morning workouts and healthy eating.

Week 1

We focused primarily on learning the nutrition basics of Simply for Life. We are learning to “enjoy” the cleanse phase of the program, which focuses on cleansing our bodies of sugar, regulating portions, and beginning to rev our metabolisms so that they work more efficiently. Eating healthy may seem like an easy task, but when you are accustomed to eating whatever you want, it is quite the adjustment! We haven’t yet confessed to our Simply For Life consultant (so shhhh!), but we did fall off the wagon once during the first week. This involved two slices of particularly scrumptious-looking birthday cake at our best man’s birthday celebration. We will try our best to avoid any more slip-ups! Still, we are proud to report that we have collectively lost eight pounds during the first week!

Week 2

This week we have started an intense workout routine with a personal trainer at Nubody’s. Our bodies are slowly adjusting to the 6 a.m. workouts as we feel soreness in muscles we never knew we had! We are hoping that the soreness will subside and the workouts will become easier, but we suspect this is just wishful thinking on our part.
