I’ve lost 8lbs. since I started my journey from Skinny Fat to Yummy Mommy! Now before you get too excited and before I take all the credit for my success, part of my weight loss is due to being very sick during the month of February.
Don’t get me wrong, I’ve been working at a steady pace since January 1st and am pleased with the habits I’ve been creating, but the nasty flu bug that has been going around has been hanging out for about five weeks at my place. I’m sure my husband and I have passed it back and forth at least twice.
It’s made my running program a challenge and because I’m running inside, I’m sure that my fellow treadmill users are wondering when the woman running beside them is going to light up her next cigarette. I am not a smoker, never have been, but what started out as a mild head cold turned into a chest infection and it honestly sounded like I averaged close to 2 packages of cigarettes per day.
I powered through my runs as best I could and while I wasn’t maintaining the speed and incline I’d built up to, I did get through the thirty minutes that I committed to three times per week.
After the chest infection, I felt great and started to add a weight routine to my exercise program. I split my workouts between two GoodLife Fitness locations depending on the time of day I am able to get in. I made it through a week of training with weights and doing my run. I was eating clean and recently received a copy of ‘The Eat-Clean Diet’ by Tosca Reno and let me be clear, I could not find one single recipe or any information that indicated I could start eating chocolate again.
The problem with this is that I can hear it screaming my name when I am in the grocery store, the drugstore, the café in my office building or even my bosses office for our weekly meetings. I’ve even considered changing my name so when it’s calling for Jen, I won’t be tempted to look at it or even smell it ~ yes, I curb my cravings by smelling chocolate and yes, it’s working for me!
Next up was strep throat, which laid me out completely for the last 10 days. During that time, I did my best to work everyday but much of my time was spent working from home via email. My workouts were missed but the silver lining to this was that while I spent a lot of time in bed, I realized I actually missed the routine I started.
With my illness finally behind me, I am ready to get back on track. Up next, are Spin Class and BodyPump this week. I’m going to mix it up so I don’t get bored and I’ll report back next week with how I made out. I’ll also be trying new healthy recipes and rest assured, there will be no chocolate!
