Sabine Hazan isn’t just a doctor; she’s a full-fledged explorer braving the wild, mysterious jungle of the human microbiome. This is not a job for the squeamish or anyone who gets nervous around, well, poop.

And if exploring poop wasn’t enough, Dr. Hazan also faces government and pharmaceutical-backed giants who’d rather keep their profits plump. Why? Because she’s out here trying to fix the root causes of chronic suffering instead of just slapping an expensive bandage on the symptoms. In other words, while others are busy selling fancy umbrellas in a hurricane, Dr. Hazan is figuring out how to stop the rain.

She spent over thirty years as a gastroenterologist and clinical trial researcher for pharmaceutical companies before she decided to chart her own course and open a lab, Progenabiome Medical Laboratory in Ventura, California. About seven years ago, she had a gut feeling (pun intended) that the microbiome was hiding medical secrets just waiting to be discovered. So, she rolled up her sleeves and dove into the world of fecal analysis, something she never imagined would be on her bucket list. Turns out, the universe inside our guts is bigger and more vital than she ever dreamed. Who knew that studying poop could be so pivotal to human health, and so full of surprises?

When Covid hit, Dr. Hazan put on her detective hat and dove straight into the guts of the matter-literally. She noticed that the folks who got knocked down hardest by the virus were missing Bifidobacterium, a VIP microbe for gut health and immunity. Meanwhile, the COVID spike protein (and even the vaccine) was sneaking into the GI tract and giving Bifidobacteria the boot. But Dr. Hazan wasn’t about to let a little thing like a global pandemic get in her way. She whipped up a special protocol to boost Bifidobacteria, and here’s the kicker: she never lost a single Covid patient! Oh, and when the government started testing city sewers for Covid? That was Dr. Hazan’s science at work. Talk about making a splash!

My podcast chat with “Hero” Hazan was a whirlwind of jaw-dropping science and life-changing advice. Squeezing it all into this, fewer than 700-word article, feels like trying to fit a Thanksgiving feast into a lunchbox. One big theme kept popping up: we’re seeing a lot more childhood cancers, more autism, autoimmune disease, and how our modern diet and chemical-laden culture are wreaking havoc on our gut health, leading to a parade of chronic diseases.

But let me share a golden nugget of Dr. Hazan’s GI wisdom. Overeating can be hazardous to your health, even if you’re overindulging in kale smoothies. It turns out that stuffing ourselves stretches those “I’m full” sensors in our stomachs, making it harder to know when to stop next time. This not only confuses our brains but can throw our microbiome into chaos. Before you know it, you’re on the express train to chronic disease. So, next time you eye that third helping, remember your gut and Dr. Hazan are rooting for you to show a little restraint.

If you’ve spent time and money bouncing from doctor to doctor, searching for answers and feeling like a medical mystery, you’re not alone—Dr. Hazan has made it her mission to help people just like us finally get relief. I should know, I’m one of her grateful success stories!

Her protocols have delivered visible, lasting, measurable results. Follow the link to Dr. Hazan’s Progenabiome site, where you can learn about becoming a participant and help rewrite the future of medicine, and where you’ll find her published clinical trials, podcasts, and more proof that sometimes the best medicine is a doctor with guts, heart, and a dash of humor. Her book “Let’s Talk Sh!t” is full of truth.
