I think we can all agree that physical activity can improve one’s overall health. But can it spice up your sex life? Good news, studies have shown, not only can it spice up your sex life, it can also improve sexual function, by enhancing blood flow, increase stamina and that my friends, goes a long way to boosting one’s confidence in the bedroom. And for those women who have lost their mojo navigating perimenopause, menopause, and post menopause this might just be what the Dr ordered and help move the dial back in your favour.
Now let’s take a deeper dive into what that looks like.
Think about words like energy, strength, increased heart rate, working up a sweat and falling into a heap afterwards. Sounds like a bit of a workout, right! What if you could take these words and translate them into magic in the bedroom. Well, I discovered a few exercises that could possibly affect the frequency and ease of sexual arousal and could also improve your ability to orgasm, not to mention increase your libido as well.
Have I got your attention yet? It got mine!
While the combination of exercises I’m about to mention might not look like a typical workout, including them regularly two to three times a week might be a game changer in the bedroom.
Let’s start with Kegels! It’s been long known that Kegels, a household term, and primarily aimed at women, are great exercises for pelvic floor activation and strengthening the pelvic floor. This includes all muscles of the pelvic floor which support the bladder, rectum, uterus, and urethra. By regularly engaging and relaxing these muscles, Kegels can improve bladder control and prevent or treat urinary leakage. But here’s the exciting news, they can also enhance sexual function for women and men. Plus, you can do them anytime and anywhere! Bonus!
Moving on to Bridges! Bridges are a staple leg exercise when it comes to a leg workout. They not only grow your booty and assist in strengthening the pelvic floor, they also help improve sexual endurance. How, you ask? Well, your booty muscles, also known as glutes, are primary muscles responsible for thrusting and hip movements during sex, and by building stronger glute muscles it will not only strengthen them it can essentially aid in controlled pelvic movement, provide support, improve endurance and stamina, and help with more intense sensations and comfort during sex. Stronger booty, better sex!
Now we have all heard of the mighty plank! But did you know this well known exercise holds a powerful punch when it comes to bedroom romps? The plank is all encompassing when it comes to core stabilization, back and pelvis support. Planks work primarily the rectus abdominus, the mighty “six pack”, obliques, and the transverse abdominus all of which aid in improved endurance, enhance stability, and increase stamina, not to mention it can boost your confidence with a sleeker, stronger midsection!
And finally we have the “Jump Squat”! This HIIT (high-intensity interval training) exercise may be the icing on the cake and could get you primed for those intense marathon sessions in the bedroom. These babies will increase your heart rate delivering more blood flow to the lower extremities, build stamina, increase muscle strength, and improve flexibility and mobility. In addition, they will fire up those sex hormones such as testosterone, primarily in men and estrogen, primarily in women and kick your libido into high gear. These are not for the faint of heart so check in with your healthcare provider before you tackle these babies!
By regularly and consistently incorporating Kegels, Bridges, Planks and Jump Squats to your regular exercise routine you will not only improve your overall health, but your libido will also thank you and who doesn’t want that?
